Re: Nadine Dorries
DavidL I clearly wasn't talking about leadbetters policies but about how mps should be accessible in the constituency snd threats to.that are a threat to democracy..if her constituents feel.she isn't doing s good job then she'll be voted out
Batley & Spenn is a marginal.isnt it?

Mr Burns - some time earlier

Nah that MP deserved to be out to the blade - (metaphorically speaking of course)

He was a devout Catholic and a socially conservative politician who opposed abortion, supported capital punishment, and campaigned in favour of Brexit.

Re: Nadine Dorries
Quite surprised that nobody has come up with a "Who should I vote for?" app: simply list all the things that are important (to you personally, not what you think others should think important) and once done it goes off and works out what party/politician best meets your needs, presenting it both graphically and textually.

Can't blame anybody but yourself then because it will only be your priorities deciding what MP to vote for.

Re: Nadine Dorries
You get this when cunts vote for a party not a politician. Its the quality of the voting public you need to direct your ire at.

Debs - Leadbeter in Batley and Spen has done fuck all except mouth off about Palestine since she was elected. Plain to see who she represents. She's never said a word about the teacher forced into hiding because of his lesson on the ideology's leader either. I wonder why?

Re: Nadine Dorries
Anyone in this day and age who thinks politicians give a flying fuck about the opinion of the general public is deluded.

As an example most people think our borders should be controlled. Labour virtue signal about humanitarian issue, but really want the votes that they expect from these people. Conservatives will bleat about stopping the boats etc. but their big business paymasters want the cheap labour to undercut the British workers The conservatives are using a pseudo tough stance for the votes, but have no intention of succeeding and they know the judiciary will play their part.

My local MP is an anonymous arse licker. It was Cameron before him, not that you would have known it, but at least he had the excuse of being PM.

Re: Nadine Dorries
Mr Burns Batley & Spenn had a hard working MP.too till some far right nutter killed her. In both cases the MPs held regular surgeries and valued the aspect of democracy that kept them accessible to their constituents.

Both sad losses but reminders that extremists musnt win.

zeb

I'm actually pleased to hear that he did something useful in his life. The rest of the time he was just another fucking drag on our economy, like most of WEFminster.

Re: Nadine Dorries
There is that and it is very funny quote.
He was engaged as a local MP campaigning on behalf our local schools both for funding (Mid Sussex had the joint lowest per capita funding in England yet the two local comprehensives were rated oustanding) and academisation. I wrote to him about the latter, forced acadamisation.and he forwarded it Nicky Morgan (minister at the time) with a covering letter more or less agreeing with me and the policy was quietly dropped.
It would probably have been dropped anyway because it was stupid policy but he did his bit.

Sorry Zeb, Soames is/was a grifting chancer who traded on his ancestor's reputation.

This is the bloke who's naked body was described as a "wardrobe with the key sticking out of the lock" by an unfortunate paramour.

Re: Nadine Dorries
She is a lazy, entitled, waste of taxpayers' money and space.
Of course there are good MPS. Nicholas Soames was a great local representative and a dedicated parliamentarian. I read a facinating article about how he and Jess Philips pulled together cross party support to get the ball rolling for the bill that outlawed coercive control.

If its having a go at a tory, even a nominal tory, then our mods don't see that as political, its just social commentary.

Is this a political thread? Only, I thought new ones weren't allowed.
